Dot is a family of pendant lamps designed by Foster + Partners to make luminaires look like disks of light. Their design neatly combines formal rigor and state-of-the-art lighting technology. <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Dot has two different sized parallel disks connected at their centers by a thin metal tube. The lower, smaller disc is converted to aluminum and contains an optically designed LED ring, a diffuser made of polished aluminum, and a ring of LEDs optically designed to deliver a high amount of light to the upper disc. The high-power source generates an amount of heat that the underlying disk cannot dissipate on its own. A special heat sink is placed inside the thin tube connecting the disks, thermally coupling the LED circuit to a heat emitter on the top disk. It is a thin, light disk and appears to be suspended in the air. It creates a shadowless, encompassing stream of light.<\/p>\n
