Designed for outdoor use, the chair had to be both water-resistant and easily stackable for practical purposes; neither the Bouroullec brothers nor Vitra could have anticipated that the ambitious project would take four years of intensive work on design and development before realization. The inspiration of natural plants can be easily seen in the complex, non-symmetrical structure and color scheme of the branch-like ribs that make up Vegetal’s seat shell. Made from polyamide material and manufactured using injection molding, the chair explores the limits of the material and the latest production techniques.<\/p>\n
