The name ‘studio’ was chosen because some lamps are used outside the studio to indicate with a red or green light whether a recording is in progress.

Vilhelm Lauritzen was the architect behind Radiohuset, inaugurated in 1945 with a functionalist design. Radiohuset, like most of Lauritzen’s buildings, is a ‘gesamtkunstwerk’, which means that he designed all the interiors and every detail of the building for the project. While developing Radiohuset, Lauritzen designed a large collection of lamps in close collaboration with Louis Poulsen. For this project Lauritzen created the Studio lamp, the VL 38 Table lamp (VL38), the Radiohus Pendant (VL45) and the VL Ring Crown lamps. It was produced by Louis Poulsen after the lamps were created in the 1940s. But over the years they have all been discontinued. The VL45 (Radiohus Pendant) and VL38 (table lamp originally from the interior of the building) were relaunched in 2016, the VL Ring Crown in 2019 and most recently the VL Studio lamp in 2022. VL Studio lamp, Radiohus Pendant; both create a diffused light through opaline glass, providing a pleasant overall light around the lamp.

Technical Information

-There are different size alternatives;

Small: Ø 15 cm x Height: 14.5 cm

Center: Ø 25 cm x Height: 24.5 cm

Size: Ø 32 cm x Height: 31 cm

-Available in two colors; Brass and Black.

-It is used as both floor and table lighting.

-It can be dimmed with the switch on the cable.

-IP Value: IP20.

-The luminaire emits a diffused light without glare.
