Poul Henningsen designed the tricolor system in 1925-26. Together with Louis Poulsen, Henningsen designed the first lamps to use the system at an exhibition in Paris. The luminaire emits a diffused, reflected, symmetrical light. The majority of light is directed downwards. Opal acrylic shades provide comfortable room lighting. The model number of the lamp, PH80, does not refer to the diameter of the upper shade, which is the system usually applied in tri-color models.
