Francesco Binfaré

Francesco Binfaré received his artistic training under his father’s direction and began working for Cassina in 1960. He worked at Cassina Lab for Cassina’s realization of both new projects and prototypes. From 1969 to 1976, he was director of Centro Cassina and created a number of chairs, including Gateano Pesce’s Up Series and Paolo Deganello’s AEO chair. He participated in the creation of 20th century design icons. He helped realize several seminal Cassina projects, including Wink by Toshiyuki Kita, Tramonto a New York by Getano Pesce (1980 and Torso by Feltri and Paolo Deganello). In 1992 Binfare was invited by Massimo Morozzi to design for Edra. He designed L’Homme et la Femme, Tangeri and Angels, including his first works for Edra. In the 21st century Binfare has created a series of new seating icons – On the Rocks, Flap, Absolu and Essential.
