Effortless is the first word the NOTE designers came up with to describe their collaboration with Wittmann. It refers both to the quality of the workmanship and the way design ideas take shape in the company’s workshops. In the case of ADAGIO, the designers’ vision was to make the graphic, sweeping lines that give the models in the line their personality look as effortless as an artist’s brushstrokes.
Available in three different sizes, the poufs in the ADAGIO series are the perfect example of this effortlessness. The organic, flowing design gives the pieces a serene yet lively look, so perfectly translated by Wittmann into upholstered furniture that there is no doubt about the intended comfort and lightness. Yet the confidence of the lines running through the furniture is not easy to achieve: the leather covering, available only on the poufs in the ADAGIO range, subtly reveals the design.
Each curved section is individually hand-cut and features individually sewn tubes on a slightly curved foam cord, reminiscent of Hoffmann’s legendary CLUB 1910 armchair. This creates a unique sculptural look for the leather version. Poufs and ADAGIO benches are upholstered in delicately applied quilting. It goes without saying that they also feature pocket springs and a carefully crafted cold foam structure. ADAGIO proves once again the exceptional craftsmanship that Wittmann has been developing and perfecting for decades.
