Daphine was born from the design philosophy of “Lots of light, not many lamps”, which is at the core of every product bearing the name Lumina, founded by Tommaso Cimini in 1980. The undisputed emblem of elegance and functionality, Daphine represents the essence of Lumina. Tried and tested throughout its long production history, this lamp is suitable for countless uses in public and private spaces, from reading tables in libraries to pianos, from jewelry displays to shop windows of the best fashion brands.
Daphine “saw the light” for the first time in 1975 in a small workshop in Sedriano (province of Milan), thanks to the skillful hands of Tommaso Cimini, an expert in mechanical engineering, and the machines he re-equipped for the purpose. Daphine undoubtedly deserves the status of a ‘lighting design icon’. Over the years, he has been included in the collections of the world’s leading design and contemporary art museums, including the Brooklyn Museum and the Judd Foundation in New York, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Neue Sammlung in Munich and the Triennale in Milan.
