The marbles specially selected by Michael Anastassiades for the ‘Love Me, Love Me Not’ collection emphasize the richness of the stone.
In the designer’s words, “I wanted to use gorgeous colors that evoke a sense of grandeur through the majesty associated with marble. At the same time, I didn’t want to overwhelm the eye, so a balance had to be struck between this opulence and the functionality and lightness of the tables.” Instead of the highly glossy look usually associated with marble, the designer chose a matte finish to bring a more contemporary touch to the stone, emphasizing its particular qualities through this subdued process.
The simplicity of each table is misleading. For example, the legs of a rectangular dining table look like a classic four-cornered leg, but if you look closely, they are actually curved. This not only creates the feeling that the leg is retracting, but also has the effect of lightening the table.
For the round table, Michael placed it far enough apart to balance with three legs brought together in the center to form a three-part column.
