Poul Henningsen designed his first lights for an exhibition in Paris in 1925-1926. His work with Louis Poulsen continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH tried to create glare-free light, directing light where it was needed most and creating soft shadows using incandescent bulbs as the light source. PH Louvre was designed in 1957 for the Adventist Church in Skodsborg, Denmark. The globe-shaped luminaire consists of 13 shades mounted on four supports. It is a simplified version of an earlier light called Spiral, designed by Poul Henningsen in 1942.
