An industrial cart used to transport glass in the FontanaArte factory: this was the object that inspired Gae Aulenti to design Tavolo con Ruote.
It is an example of intuitive design that skips the drawing board stage and goes straight from the idea of an everyday item to the prototype stage. This rolling table replaces the wooden shelf of the factory trolley with a thick sloping sheet of beveled glass, a tribute to the company’s manufacturing history, and fits on free-spinning industrial casters. By changing a simple part, the nature and intended use of the object is transformed.
