Walter Knoll, the leading brand of modern furniture design, stands out with its flawless handcraft and durability in the lively living spaces it creates. The story of the Knoll family begins in 1865 with a leather business in Stuttgart, Germany. Born in 1839, Wilhelm Knoll traveled frequently to Paris, the center of fashion, luxury and leatherwork, and opened his own leather store. In 1907, his sons Willy and Walter took over their father's business and expanded their product range by starting the production of armchairs and chairs. Walter Knoll was the first brand to introduce the single arm chair to Germany.
