The VL38 table lamp was originally designed in the late 1930s by Vilhelm Lauritzen in partnership with Louis Poulsen for the construction of the Radiohuset building (Danish Broadcasting House) in Copenhagen (today the Royal Danish Academy of Music). Vilhelm Lauritzen’s lamp design VL38 and pendant VL45 for Radiohuset, 2. After World War II, it began to appear in Louis Poulsen catalogs in the mid-1940s. The VL38 in white/brass color was relaunched in autumn 2016. To adapt to contemporary developments in light technology and energy efficiency, the luminaires are equipped with Led. Introduced in fall 2017, the black version of the VL38 has a stronger design than the original white version, but retains the beloved retro look and soft, curvaceous expression of the original design.
