The Aare Gorge in Switzerland is evidence of the natural erosion that took shape during the last ice age. The river from the melting glaciers has traveled deep into the rock and cut through its core. So light gradually began to penetrate through the cracks between the layers of ancient limestone. The manual etching technique used on Aare’s metal sheet is the modern echo that recreates the natural appearance of the rock, like its surface. Through the slit in the center, it takes the archetypal form of geography sculpted from ice and reproduces its prehistoric beauty, as if it had been forged with them centuries ago.
