Alexander Girard (1907-1993) was one of the most influential textile artists and interior designers of the twentieth century. He created worlds full of colorful richness, where everything from the smallest details to the big picture was precisely and skillfully coordinated.
Among Girard’s best-known works is the stunning interior design of the legendary New York-based restaurant La Fonda Del Sol (1960). The leitmotif of the restaurant was the sun, which covered every little detail of the interior in the countless variations Girard created.
