Designed by Mariano Fortuny in 1907, Fortuny remains a contemporary and timeless icon to this day.
The designer’s knowledge and talent gave shape to the Fortuny lamp design, where he experimented with a new lighting system for stage lighting. The idea for the base came from the camera’s tripod with adjustable feet, while for the lampshade Mariano reversed the typical lampshades of the time, making them tiltable. So he created a means of guiding light. A new version with silver fabric from the famous Rubelli weaving mill is another alternative.
