Nature meets technology in the design of Bertjan Pot and Heracleum III. This design is inspired by the flowering plant of the same name, which can grow up to 5 meters tall. The white petals on Heracleum III reproduce from a single branch, creating a very technical, natural structure thanks to the Marcel Wanders studio’s technique of coating conductive layers called Electrosandwich.
It uses conductive layers to great effect in the Heracleum. They allow the ‘branches’ of the lamps to be thin and precise in a way that is not possible with normal cables. The ‘leaves’ of the heracleum can be freely repositioned by rotating them around the stem.
