Moonsetter by architect and designer Anne Boysen was the winning design in the Next Danish Design Classic competition broadcast on national Danish television in 2020. The competition jury immediately recognized the qualities of Moonsetter with its simple design, clean lines and timeless feel. Moonsetter’s design is based on basic geometric shapes where circle, square and cylinder combine in a unique and artistic configuration. After creating the first prototype of the floor lamp for the design competition, Anne Boysen partnered with Louis Poulsen to continue design iterations. The lamp was introduced in Denmark in 2021 with numbered editions of 100 pieces.
The sculptural aesthetic of the floor lamp stands out in any interior, almost like a work of art. Its 360° rotating disc, with different coatings on both sides, allows us to play games and decide how the light should be reflected in the room and exactly how the room should be reflected on the mirror surface of the lamp. Moonsetter invites us to interact and explore, not only seeing the quality of the design but also feeling and sensing it. Moonsetter blurs the line between sculpture and light source, serving an aesthetic purpose as well as a functional one. Moonsetter’s impressive size naturally attracts attention and creates a room that can be shaped by reflections and light within the room.
