Amidst the challenges presented by the pandemic in 2020, The Village was conceived as a project that aims to reinterpret and celebrate the true meaning of home. The result was a series of miniature houses in natural stone designed by renowned artists from around the world who were invited to express their concepts of home in their own unique style.
The majestic diversity of different stones chosen brings together designers from different cultures, backgrounds and influences to create a joyful homage to home and spectacular sculpture-like accessories.
The passion that renowned architect and designer Rodolfo Dordoni felt for this project is expressed in a pair of houses, each piece with clean, precise lines that recall the style of Italy’s Novecento movement, the inspiration for the name he chose.
When designing the Novecento series, the designer sought to achieve the perfect balance between architecture, sculpture and design logic, and the result can be seen in the multiform pieces that beautifully express the eternal opposition between rationality and playfulness that he loves so much.
The design sees the alternation of high and low arches, from the rich dark tones of Pietra d’Avola and the elegant green of Verde Alpi, artfully cut to highlight the distinctive features of each of the four stones chosen to bring his vision to life. The purity of Bianco Carrara and, in contrast, the vibrant red curves of Rosso Collemandina.
This marvelous rhythmic succession of colors and forms gives shape to a miniature neighborhood overflowing with delightful nuances and contradictions.
