With its essential shapes and soft, sinuous sense of movement, Wave suggests a renewed, more conscious focus on the ritual of coming home. The project reinterprets a perfect piece of Asian furniture: the shoe bench. Its humble function as a furniture complement has been sublimated and transformed into an inviting element suitable to decorate even the most sophisticated interiors.
Designed with simple, flowing forms, the micro-architecture is crafted using solid natural copper that plays with curves, solids and voids. The vertical wave-shaped wall in perforated copper adds lightness to the volume and accompanies those who enter, adding an elegant touch to the sculptural form; the wave form underlines the presence of the “pocket emptying” plate and invites us to empty our pockets when we come home. The top surface provides ample space to sit while removing clothes, while the base provides storage space for bags and shoes. Natural copper, which does not require surface treatment, becomes a living material that changes over time and acquires various fractures due to different oxidation rates: it remains brighter in areas of more frequent contact, thus emphasizing the routines of those who use it.
