Verner Panton
Danish architect and designer Verner Panton (1926-1998), 20th. among the most prominent and innovative designers active in the second half of the century.
Born in Gamtofte, Denmark, Verner Panton studied at Odense Technical College before enrolling as an architecture student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. From 1950 to 1952 he worked for the architectural firm Arne Jacobsen, and in 1955 he founded an independent studio for architecture and design.
After moving to Switzerland in the early 1960s, he became known for his creative, new ideas for furniture, lighting and textiles. The masterful use of color was the hallmark of his work.
