Created by designer Gabriel Tan, Luva is a case study to explore the intersections of art, design and culture. The basic form of the sofa is inspired by the soft rolled tops of Japanese futons and the padded tactility of a boxing glove. The luva (Portuguese for “glove”) can transform into a “fist” for supportive seating or unfold for a comfortable rest.
Available as a sectional, chaise lounge, seat and more, you can choose a preset configuration or create your own with individual sections and attachment brackets sold separately. Designed for dual functionality, the back expands for comfortable lounging or folds down for a supportive seat. The raised form is also inspired by both boxing gloves and Japanese futons. Upholstered in natural textiles and leathers that emphasize the organic lines.
