It is named after Alicanto, a night bird from Chilean mythology that is said to live in the Atacama Desert and feeds exclusively on gold and silver.
Legend has it that his feeding prevents him from flying, but makes his wings shimmer with golden reflections. Seeing his light in the dark, the miners would follow him and thus find the gold. The image of this bird, capable of illuminating the night, about to fly but sitting firmly on the ground, was therefore the inspiration for a name for a new lamp characterized by a slight imbalance towards the front.
The entire arched shape is designed to carry the light, as if to “stretch” it as far as possible. An elegant and sophisticated piece of hardware, Alicanto is a contemporary lamp, robust and lightweight, with an innovative design capable of adapting to state-of-the-art furniture, suspended between clarity and durability, in the balance between art and industry, without departing from the FontanaArte philosophy. Alicanto is a floor and wall lamp; the latter version is available in two sizes.
