Created by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the 1929 German Pavilion at the International Exhibition in Barcelona, the pure composition of the Barcelona Collection represented modern architecture. From the elegant cross frame to the individual upholstery squares skillfully assembled by hand, each Barcelona Chair is a tribute to the marriage of modern design, exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
The curved seat of the architecturally shaped Barcelona Chair keeps the seated person in a comfortable but supported position.
Available in leather, suede or fabric with a polished chrome or ultra matt onyx frame. To create the cushions, 40 squares of leather, suede or fabric are hand-knitted and hand-tufted with buttons.
Leather chair: the squares all come from a single cowhide.
The cushions are fixed to the frame with leather straps with harmoniously painted edges.
An original Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Design: The frame is stamped with the Knoll logo and the designer’s signature, guaranteeing lifetime authentication.
