Erice Outdoor Chair

Erice is a small medieval village in Sicily, known for a special textile art that has its origins in the ancient influences of Greece and the Middle East.

The famous Erice rugs are handcrafted by skilled women who weave strips of scrap fabric onto a series of parallel threads on a loom. In the same spirit, Erice is an armchair designed with the aim of optimizing craftsmanship and the use of textile material. At the same time, it presents an object with a strong decorative effect. The structure made of aluminum tubes and straps becomes a real frame that guides the weaving processes.

Through laser-cut holes, the straps draw a geometric pattern of alternating blocks of color, forming different patterns depending on the chair’s viewing angle.

The decoration, which can be read both positively and negatively, makes it a graphic and almost two-dimensional object; the profile of the armchair draws a fine line reminiscent of Sicilian carpets, a delicate mark that is in perfect harmony with the extreme lightness of the aluminum. Like the warp and weft, the metal and
ribbons allow multiple color combinations depending on their color.

To further increase comfort, Erice is also available with an additional cushion for the seat and armrests covered with cord.
