Luigi Caccia Dominioni saw curves as the essence of beauty and recognized how they are incorporated into every aspect of life. He often said, “Man moves with twists and turns, like water flowing in a river.” He also used the expression “This tendency in man lies at the core of architectural form.” He adopted this understanding both in his architectural designs and in his furniture and object designs. Fascia Specchiata is a perfect example of this approach.
The base of the table is composed of two curved metal sheets that interlock, creating a pure architectural form. Up close, it is reminiscent of Richard Serra’s powerful Land Art sculptures, which were highly acclaimed in the 1970s. The table’s fluid, river-like form creates a harmonious balance between art and nature, a quality that is characteristic of Caccia Dominioni’s work.
The oval glass top offers a mesmerizing play of light with a wide strip of mirrors surrounding it. Up close, you can even see your own reflection in this elegant horizontal mirror.
