La Mamma (Donna) is completely in tune with the spirit of Pop Art and Gaetano Pasce’s fondness for anthropomorphic shapes. The chair was originally designed to resemble a prehistoric female fertility figure and a ball was attached to symbolize bondage. The unusual nature of the shape also applies to the construction and marketing of the chair, one of a series of six.
Thanks to the technology developed by B&B Italia to create oversized foam pieces, together they were able to radically depart from traditional flooring production. Donna consists of a molded monoblock foam without any support structure, as the foam rubber is dense and independent.
