Poul Henningsen designed the tricolor system in 1925-1926. The first lights using the system were designed by PH in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for an exhibition in Paris. PH did not just design a light, he designed a whole system; about a thousand different models have been produced over the years. This wide selection consists of table, floor and wall lamps, as well as a range of different chandeliers, which were very popular in the 30s for lighting private houses from high ceilings.

This wide selection consists of table, floor and wall lamps, as well as a range of different chandeliers, which were very popular in the 30s for lighting private homes from high ceilings.
The luminaire is designed on the principle of a reflective three-shade system that directs the majority of light downwards. The shades are made of mouth-blown opal three-layer glass, with a glossy top and a sandblasted matt underside, providing a soft and even light distribution.
