We See What We Want To See Mirror

We See What We Want To See is an oval wall mirror.

The ME FROM OUTSIDE collection is a visual narrative that encourages reflection about ourselves and the society we live in. Characterized by a modern aesthetic, the large oval mirror is screen-printed with three messages in large letters that establish a direct relationship between the user and the object itself.

A symbol of reflection, introspection and vanity, the mirror is not only a practical tool, but an object that presents us with a complex encounter between what we see and what we feel, between how we reflect ourselves and how we are perceived by others.
Italian artist Pietro Terzini is known for his work that encourages us to interact and think through bold handwritten expressions. This pop art approach was developed in collaboration with Cassina to launch the first design product with the main objective of questioning its user.

The title ‘I want to see’ in the Details section of the first model ‘What We See’ Accessories catalogue highlights how what we see is often altered by our perception of ourselves; our inner truth is therefore often filtered by what we choose to see and what we decide to reveal.

The other two models are limited editions, available in 100 pieces for each message: the first one emphasizes the theme of self-love with the phrase ‘I love you’ and the second one reminds us that the mirror can lie with the phrase ‘Sometimes I lie’, because first appearances are not always what they seem, just like how easy it is to lie to ourselves when we want to hide from the truth. Pietro Terzini will sign a plaque placed on the back of these two models, further confirming the artistic spirit of this project.
