Miya Coffee Table

Miya is the typical name of a famous samurai in Japan. It is a name chosen because of the desire to design a collection of tables depicting and inspired by the armor worn by ancient samurai. The design is basically the result of signs translating and generating surprise and magic, an intuition that through development and growth becomes something unique and sublime.

In fact, the initial idea was confronted with materials, simplifications and balances, and evolved into something completely different, probably looking more like a flower than a warrior’s armor. Thus was born Miya, a sculptural coffee table to be created in a magical game of juxtaposition.

A large transparent glass barrel houses a colored blown glass structure and an interlocking top made of an extra light crystal plate combined with a coating in the center. There are various combinations that give the object different images, from cobalt blue to emerald green, in a play of total transparencies and vibrant color tones.

Available in two sizes and heights, Miya expresses Elena Salmistraro’s creative responsibility to respect the use of materials, combined with a masterful knowledge of construction. A service table but above all the main character of a residential environment suitable for the most diverse architectural contexts.
