Nòs Desk

Dating from 1957, the small desk designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini was reinterpreted by Ceccotti Collezioni sixty-five years after its first production, and was presented to the market under the name “Nòs” (meaning “walnut” in Milanese dialect).

Originally named “Model 530”, this piece is characterized by its simple style and meticulous lines. It was first produced mostly in walnut (natural or painted), and its characteristic hourglass-shaped leg is enriched with a frame detail that emphasizes its profile. Available in three different versions, the Nòs desk reflects Frattini’s holistic vision of spaces and furniture in historical context: the design becomes comprehensive and no detail is accidental.

The standard version has two lockable drawers under a flat work surface, each equipped with a key with a wooden handle. There are also three compartments, one at the front and two at the back. The roll-top version elegantly combines a small desk and a secretary’s desk, inspired by a decorative model created in the 18th century to appeal to women’s tastes. In this version, in addition to the previous one, the upper part has a shelf with two doors, a frequent element in Frattini’s designs. In the third version, the drawer part is repeated in the upper section, making it a practical object or a shelf for documents.

The care for wood and the value of craftsmanship is a shared passion that brought Gianfranco Frattini and Franco Ceccotti together. This bond was further strengthened by the presence of a copy of the Milanese architect’s original desk in the home of Franco Ceccotti, founder of Ceccotti Collezioni. This passion led to the idea of re-presenting a historical piece of furniture faithful to the original project. Made in three versions in American walnut and available in the four colors of the catalogue (natural, mocha, brown and dark tones), the table has a classic yet timeless look thanks to the craftsmanship and attention to detail in its production. The Nòs small desk remains a symbol of memory and a historical witness of human knowledge, while its perfect balance between elegant details and structural simplicity makes it a refined piece of furniture that fits into any space.
