TL59 Round Table
The TL59 table is a deeply evocative material expression, where the strength of aluminum meets the purity of glass in an architectural sculpture. Designed in 1975 by Afra and Tobia Scarpa, it is now offered in two new versions by Cassina.
The TL59’s geometries tell a harmonious visual story in which each structural element fits or overlaps perfectly with the other. The model’s defining feature is its architectural base made entirely of die-cast aluminum. The two circular discs at the ends, which act as tabletop support and base respectively, are connected by two joined vertical elements that converge towards the center of the table. This union carves a triangle in the middle of the two discs, creating a play of solid and void that further enhances the table’s sculptural aesthetic.

This glass version creates a fascinating visual contrast in which the base, finished in black powder coating and refined embossing, harmoniously dialogs with the tempered glass top taken from the original model. Like the negative of a photograph, the transparent or smoked float glass top reveals the beauty of the base and invites you to discover its architectural lines.
The elegance of the table is further enhanced by the beveled edge of the top, a perimeter veneer that tapers the contour, creating a clear crystal-like frame.
