Designed by Charles and Ray Eames from welded steel wire, the Wire Chair is a variation on the theme of the organically shaped one-piece seat shell, combining the aesthetics of transparency with technical finesse. For added comfort, the seat shell can be fitted with a two-piece seat and back cushion, also known as a “Bikini” cushion.
Equipped with a clip system, Bikini Outdoor can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement. The powder-coated Wire Chairs can also be used outdoors with Bikini, as both the fabric and the filling are weather resistant. Bikini Outdoor can be ordered separately and can be easily attached to the chair. The Wire Chair DKW model is not suitable for outdoor use due to its wooden legs.
