B&B Italia celebrates the 20th anniversary of the iconic Tufty-Time sofa system, one of its best-selling designs, with Tufty-Time 20, a contemporary reinterpretation by Patricia Urquiola.
First introduced in 2005, Tufty-Time redefined the concept of comfort and modularity, bringing together the traditions of “Chesterfield” and “capitonné” with a modern and comfortable lifestyle. The Tufty series , which has grown with versions such as Tufty-Too and Tufty-Time ’15, is now stepping into the future with Tufty-Time 20.

The system has been reinterpreted to retain its core features of modularity, enveloping comfort and flexibility – elements that have made it an icon – and the padding and seat height have been redesigned to increase comfort. With a focus on sustainability, the system was developed to be fully demountable. The added curved module increases the flexibility of the system, allowing for more fluid and inviting spaces.
The new structure of the sofa system offers an extremely comfortable seating experience thanks to the recycled polyester filling between the polyurethane and fabric. This special filling provides a softer and more supportive feel, while the increased seat height maximizes overall comfort.
Tufty-Time 20 also introduces brand new coffee table alternatives to the collection, which are in perfect harmony with the sofa system. Available in various sizes, these coffee tables are also available in a version that can be placed seamlessly between the modular elements of the sofa.
Designed with recycling in mind, Tufty-Time 20 is fully disassemblable, so that all components and materials can find a second life at the end of the product’s life cycle.With a high recycling index, Tufty-Time 20 reinforces B&B Italia’s commitment to circular economy and environmental responsibility.
