Euroluce 2025 | Lighting Beyond Function
Euroluce 2025, the biennial Lighting Biennial of Milan Design Week, turned into a fascinating stage where light meets aesthetics, creative boundaries are pushed and innovative designs are exhibited. This year, Euroluce took the theme “Lighting Beyond Function” one step further, emphasizing lighting not only as a functional element but also as a tool that shapes emotions and atmosphere. While the world’s leading lighting brands brought contemporary interpretations to classic forms, they drew attention with deepening material research and sustainable solutions. We take a closer look at the latest designs that emphasize that light is not only a function but also a form of expression.
FLOS
Announcing its new collection titled “The Light of the Mind”, the concept of which was developed by Formafantasma, Flos introduced brand new designs designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Michael Anastassiades, Piero Lissoni and Konstantin Grcic at Milan Design Week, emphasizing the thought process and emotional connection behind each design.
This year, the Flos collection includes brand new lighting: Maap by Erwan Bouroullec, one of the most acclaimed designs, gives freedom to human creativity, transforming the wall into a luminous canvas. Linked, designed by Michael Anastassiades, creates chandelier-like compositions thanks to modules connected to each other with a pin system; each module can be used alone or as part of a larger whole.
An original reinterpretation of the torch form, Jam Session by Piero Lissoni is considered a “super candle” offering a soft glow, ideal for interiors.
Flos also reinterpreted Seki-Han and Biagio lighting by Tobia Scarpa, one of the most important names in Italian design: Biagio, Scarpa’s iconic table lamp from 1968, was reproduced by Flos this year in a limited edition to celebrate Scarpa’s 90th birthday. Carved from a single block of honey-colored onyx, this special series is a sculpture of light that emphasizes the natural veins and translucency of the stone.
DAVIDE GROPPI
At Milan Design Week 2025, Davide Groppi’s new collection “Il Bianco, il Nero e lo Specchio” (White, Black and Mirror) brings together three fundamental states of light – true light, darkness and the magic reflected in a mirror. a timeless aesthetic born from the harmony of opposites, each object is the silent star of a delicate dialogue between poetry and industry.
The collection’s new designs, OneOff and Calma, focus on the physical and metaphysical limits of light. Race of Lights revives the child spirit by combining play and light with magnetic car lamps. Sottile Sistema transforms the space into a geometric light network with interconnectable linear modules.
BOCCI
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and under the creative direction of Omer Arbel, Bocci has added two new models to its numbered collections: 141, introduced in March 2025, is Bocci’s newest numbered concept. Featuring geometric innovations, it continues the collection’s sculptural approach.
Another new design 14 is a reinterpretation of the original model, launched in 2005 and the first discovery of Omer Arbel. This classic design is reintroduced in a sculptural and compositional depth enhanced by new geometric arrangements.
BOMMA
At Euroluce 2025, Bomma showcased its latest lighting collections in an impressive installation called “Fragments Reborn”. Two new collections, Fragment Line and Fragments, made from recycled glass shards, were presented along with a new technical luminaire, Beam.
The Fragments Line and Fragments collection use the highly advanced Fragmentglass technique, developed by Studio Dechem for Bomma, which combines recycled glass shards. The variety of multicolored glass fragments makes the refraction of light a fascinating game, bringing the panorama of a galaxy of light into interiors.
BROKIS
Brokis, one of the most successful brands to combine the centuries-old glassblowing tradition of the Bohemian region with contemporary design, introduced two new illuminations at Euroluce this year: Comet, inspired by the trail of a shooting comet in the sky, and Under Pressure, the signature of the brand’s longtime collaborators Boris Klimek and Lenka Damová, took its place in the rich Brokis collection.
The process of molten glass solidifying into a delicate form is evident in Under Pressure. Reflecting the tension and transformation of glass as it cools and solidifies from its hot and fluid state, the series makes an industrial reference with technical elements such as a central gear rod passing through the glass sphere. The Comet series, which is hand-blown from layered glass, is included in the collection in two different forms, Comet Round and Comet Square, in pendant form. This year, in addition to the mini versions of the Planets and Night Birds series introduced in previous years, Brokis has also added a brand new shade of green to the material collection.
INGO MAURER
Continuing the legacy of the legendary designer Ingo Maurer, who told stories with his poetic and humorous approach to light and his designs that traveled the boundaries between art and design, the brand introduced five new designs at Euroluce 2025 in Milan this year.
Jasna Kuchnia, which brings the everyday aesthetics of the past into the present by backlighting five porcelain plates with subtle light; Nalum, a playful light landscape with small surfer figures encased in a fsilver glass form; Shhh!, which continues Ingo Maurer’s sense of humor; Strange Little Thing, which reduces minimalism down to a cable and a circuit board; and Bruce Springsteel, which combines technical elegance and lightness with a delicate spotlight, continue Ingo Maurer’s design legacy.
VIBIA
The presentation prepared by Spanish lighting brand Vibia for Euroluce 2025 centered on the brand’s ongoing research on the concept of “Shaping Atmospheres”. The concepts built around four main titles; Material and Warm Light, Circulation of Light in Space, Dynamic Light and Indoor-Outdoor Integrity were reflected in the exhibition area.
In addition to the new versions of Knit by Meike Harde, the new Array Lineal lighting by Umut Yamaç, a successful Turkish designer, added to the Array collection, a collection of impressive linear forms. Antoni Arola’s Flamingo Mini collection creates a light and elegant atmosphere with an ethereal effect. The combination of layered diffusers and warm light creates a subtle and serene atmosphere.
In addition to these iconic collections, Vibia also introduced new collections that are yet to be released: Woven Air by Doshi Levien is about playing with lightweight fabrics that filter light. Duna by Cecilie Manz is a simple design that brings serenity to spaces with its warm and enveloping light. Made of natural washi paper, the design makes itself felt not by its direct presence but by the atmosphere it creates. Antoni Arola’s Asia collection combines traditional Asian craftsmanship with contemporary technology. Gently filtering light from the inside, the design presents a fragile appearance with its simple form and carries a strong conceptual depth.
MARSET
Making an ambitious entry to Euroluce 2025, Barcelona-based lighting brand Marset continues to push modern design standards forward by balancing innovative form language with lighting performance. Last year’s highly acclaimed table lamp Fragile is now a series of three basic forms – sphere, cone and cylinder – in variations such as pendant and sconce.
From the imagination of designer Joan Gaspar, a longtime Marset collaborator, the Caramel sconce gives the impression of a living object when the light is on and creates graphic play when it is off. Ambrosia Pro by Ciszak Dalmas improves on Ambrosia, combining technique with poetry and reinterpreting the classic tube light. The new Pro version provides more controlled illumination with a cellular structure of independent lenses.

Italamp, another anniversary brand, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Exhibiting its new collections at Euroluce in a special area designed by Studio Salaris, the brand strikes a balance between tradition and contemporary design, combining elegance, sensuality and functionality.
Clip sconce lighting designed by Pio and Tito Toso, one of the most striking of the series, offers the elegant elegance we are accustomed to at Italamp in a warm atmosphere, while U Lamp, Gilda and Regolo floor lamps are Italamp’s newest products in the field of floor lighting. Aurora la Petite, another interesting portable lighting, draws attention with its pastel and soft color palette, while the Borealis pendant inspired by the Northern lights is among the most striking designs.

At Euroluce 2025, Oluce took the stage with a powerful collection that carries the legacy of the past into the future.
Bringing the brand’s iconic designs to the outdoors, the 2025 collection brings the elegance of decorative lighting to the open air. Vico Magistretti’s 1977 design Lyndon, with its four glass globe candelabra structure, is now available in three different outdoor versions: the classic pedestal model, the wall sconce and the single globe table lamp, which is introduced for the first time.
In the interior, iconic models reinterpreted as a tribute to the brand’s history stand out. The legendary Spider designed by Joe Colombo in 1967 is revived as a compact table lamp under the name “Mini Spider”. Tito Agnoli’s 1954 design is included in the catalog in table version for the first time this year.
Dancing Glass, designed by Victor Vasilev, offers a mesmerizing visuality in both pendant and wall-mounted models with elegant glass forms where light turns into a dance. Lanterna, designed by Marta Laudani and Marco Romanelli, is a new addition to the series with amber and smoked gray tones of Pyrex glass.
