The second and third parts of the Paper Log House project, which was constructed in Hatay by METU Faculty of Architecture and Urgent Design Studio in collaboration with Shigeru Ban Architects and Mozaik Design, were completed with the support of Bütün Çocuklar Bizim Association.

Based on the Paper Log House concept of Shigeru Ban, who has been focusing on the problem of sheltering after disasters by considering on the concept of recycling for nearly 30 years and continues his worldwide work through the Voluntary Architects’ Network, the Paper Log House prototype was built together with METU Architecture Faculty students and the Urgent Design Studio, established within METU.

Previously, Ban had gone to Bohşin Primary School in Hatay with the logistics team of METU and Mozaik to support the installation of the first Paper Log House prototype after the interview held at METU on May 3, 2023.

The second and third parts of the Paper Log House project were completed on October 4th – 6th, 2023. METU Faculty of Architecture students and Mozaik Design, as well as volunteers, provided support for the installation of the Paper Log House built in Yeşilpınar Primary School in Defne, and Azize Süleyman Yalçın Primary School in Samandağ, Hatay.

Mozaik provided the essential materials and paper logs for the Paper Log House along with the support of installation and logistics, and Bütün Çocuklar Bizim (All Children Are Ours) Association undertook the settlement and furniture support for the project.

In the scope of this project, a total of 3 houses were built in Hatay, and functioned as classrooms which will be used as Mind Games Classrooms (smart games and art workshops) in three schools in Hatay.
