The fourth edition of Italian Design Day, celebrated worldwide in March, was hosted by the Embassy of Italy in Turkey in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture, Fondazione ADI, Collezione Compasso d’Oro, Salone del Mobile, Triennale Milano, and Mozaik. This year’s event took place under the theme “Design for Better Life”, highlighting the future vision of Italian design and its interdisciplinary influence.

The evening began with an opening speech by Giorgio Marrapodi, the Italian Ambassador to Ankara, who reflected on Italy’s rich design heritage and its lasting impact on global aesthetics and innovation. Following this, Yaman Erturan, founder of Mozaik, took the stage to explore the evolution of Italian craftsmanship, particularly in the furniture industry. He shed light on how industrial advancements and new production techniques since the 1960s have reshaped Italian design, blending tradition with cutting-edge technology.

Alex Terzariol, ADI International Delegate and designer, explored the “Design for Better Life” theme in his presentation, addressing the interdisciplinary evolution of Italian design, its key milestones, and the contributions of production techniques to the global design landscape.

Terzariol also emphasized the significance of the Compasso d’Oro awards – one of the most prestigious honors in the design world. Initiated by Gio Ponti and awarded by the ADI Foundation, the Compasso d’Oro recognizes excellence in design and serves as a benchmark for innovation and quality.

The exhibition, held at the Embassy of Italy in Ankara, featured iconic Compasso d’Oro-winning furniture, lighting, and industrial design pieces, offering visitors a glimpse into the legacy of award-winning Italian design.
