AN INVITING NOVELTY
The Soriana lounge chair was first designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1969. Cassina has redesigned and relaunched the Soriana range using eco-friendly materials and new colors.
In 1970, Soriana was awarded the Compasso d’Oro, cementing her position as a style icon. Defined by its voluminous curves, the Soriana lounge chair is generously wrapped in a fixed upholstery that forms comfortable curves around the body of the chair. Upholstered buttons decorate the upholstery, creating a quilted effect on both the seat and backrest. Cassina has introduced a range of luxurious fabrics and leathers that can be paired with a metal frame painted in black, white, Chinese red, blue or green.
In the 1960s and 70s, Cassina was experimenting with materials and forms and developing designs with advanced solutions. The Soriana remains largely the same today, although the materials and construction have been redeveloped for an eco-friendly version that has less impact on the planet but provides a higher level of comfort.

Description
For Cassina, the British duo Barber Osgerby designs an armchair that challenges the traditional formality of the dining chair and reinvents the approach to this piece of furniture, inspired by movement.
The Tamburound backrest and seat can rotate independently of each other thanks to an intelligent system developed by Cassina that encourages more dynamic interaction between customers. The steel disk mechanism at the base is connected to a curved base that adjusts the top.
Like satellites orbiting each other, the seat and back rests design two harmonious orbits that allow both parts to rotate 360°, a mechanism that makes it ideal for an informal lunch as well as for more festive occasions.
